Volunteer Broadcasters Needed! Please Help
Quick facts about VoicePrint Canada VoicePrint Canada is a non-profit organization that broadcasts published news in audio format for the benefit of blind, low-vision and other print-restricted Canadians. More than 600 volunteers across the country read from over 100 different publications. Our programs include Regional Reports, Arts & Entertainment, Ability Today, Science & Technology to name only a few. We have at least 12 hours of original programming everyday. We are available on the S.A.P. of CBC Newsworld across the country. There is live streaming audio feed to our daily programming on our website Our archival system with almost 20,000 single articles is sorted by category and/or by source on our website Our website address: www.voiceprintcanada.com We are introducing a new initiative called Local Broadcast Centers (LBCs). As a part of our commitment to provide access to printed material for print-restricted Canadians, we will implement 100 LBCs across the country over the next 7 years. Each LBC will read from the local newspapers in the community. They will have a web page on our web site and a lead story from an LBC will air on the half hour of VoicePrint Canada’s National service. This is how they work: Volunteers come to the office at their scheduled time and read through the community newspapers that are made available to them. They will select articles based on five categories: News, Sports, Births/Deaths, Community Events and Grocery Specials. They will use a computer and an audio software application to record themselves. They will send their lead news story to the National Office They will upload their articles to a specified website There is no audio software or web experience necessary as all training will be provided by volunteers should be possess basic computer knowledge.
